Mechanical production: Soul, down 0,6 in 2013

Mechanical production: Soul, down 0,6 in 2013

The mechanical sector represented by the Anima Federation will close 2013 with a contraction in production of 0,6%, after the -1,9% recorded in 2012, equal to 40,2 billion euro. The president Sandro Bonomi made it known to the shareholders' meeting.

For this year, a positive trend in exports is expected, similar to that recorded in 2012 which with a +1,1% drove the sector and represented 57% of production, equal to 23 billion. However, according to the note released on the occasion of the meeting, there is a strong slowdown in India in the first half of this year, which has had a negative impact on world economic growth.

Furthermore, in 2012 investments (-0,6%) and employment (-0,3%) decreased. E Expectations for 2013 indicate "a substantial maintenance of these levels albeit with a negative sign (-0,2%)".

Bonomi observed that “the crisis is impoverishing the manufacturing sector which can no longer count on the domestic market. I recognize the good method of the Stability Law, but I confirm that now we need to fill this platform with content that can be applied immediately and with more substantial investments".
