The Bper era officially begins in Sondrio. A month after the conclusion of the takeover bid that gave the Emilian bank control of the former Popolare with 80,69% of the capital, Bper has presented the lists of candidates for the new board.
Bper: the lists of candidates for the board
Following the half-yearly report at the beginning of August, and in light of the new ownership structure, Pop Sondrio had called for the September 15th the assembly on the appointment of the new board after the resignation of almost the entire board of directors.
For the renewal of the board composed of 15 membersBper has submitted three lists, each containing five candidates, with different terms of office. Pop Sondrio's bylaws require one-third of the directors to be periodically renewed.
The new board: Casini candidate for president
For the election of five directors (with terms expiring upon approval of the 2025 financial statements), the list includes Gabriele Beni (independent), Annamaria Massimetti, Silvia Stefini (independent), Cristiano Cincotti (independent), and Simone Marcucci. Among the candidates whose terms will expire with the approval of the 2026 financial statements, the following stand out: Andrea Casini, Independent, former head of UniCredit's retail business in Italy, who worked closely with BPER CEO Gianni Franco Papa for years. Also on the list are Elvio Sonnino (Deputy General Manager of BPER), Severine Melissa Harmine Neervoort (independent), Maria Chiara Malaguti (independent), and Pierluigi Molla, who until now served as president of Sondrio. Finally, with terms expiring in 2027, the list includes Giuseppe Recchi (independent, formerly of TIM), Alessandra Ruzzu (independent), Elena Conforti, Roberto Giay, and Stefano Vittorio Kuhn. These are not all newcomers. In addition to Recchi and Molla, Stefini, Neervoort, Malaguti, and Giay were already on the board.
