Pirelli, Prime Minister Conte visits the company

The Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, accompanied by the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Pirelli, Marco Tronchetti Provera, visited the Pirelli Research & Development center located in the company's headquarters. The visit was attended by Andrea Casaluci, General Manager Operations Pirelli, and Maurizio Boiocchi, Executive Vice President and Strategic Advisor Technology and Innovation Pirelli.

Il Research & Development center of Milan, which is flanked by 12 other centers around the world, represents the main innovation laboratory of Pirelli and makes use of the professionalism of around 450 engineers and specialists on the more than 1.900 employees worldwide. Research & Development, to which approximately 6% of the revenues of the High Value segment on which Pirelli production is concentrated is allocated, constitutes a central phase for the creation of new technologically advanced and increasingly sustainable products, cutting-edge production processes, of innovative materials with low environmental impact, making a decisive contribution to making Pirelli a sustainability leader in its sector, recognized by the major specialized companies in the sector.

During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Justice - Department ofPenitentiary Administration and Pirelli aimed at promoting the work for prisoners to be achieved through a training program for the creation of skills that can be used in the world of work. The agreement, signed by Francesco Basentini, Head of the Penitentiary Administration Department, and by Filippo Maria Grasso, Pirelli's Corporate Vice President Global Institutional Affairs & Sustainability, provides for the parties' commitment to identify specific work activities to be carried out in dedicated spaces inside of prisons with the aim of increasing the professional skills of the prisoners involved in public utility projects and for future inclusion within Pirelli and, more generally, in the labor market. The Memorandum of Intent signed today, the executive modalities of which will be defined by June 2020, and the subsequent operational agreements will have a validity of three years and, with the agreement of the Parties, may be replicated in collaboration with international subjects.
