Pirelli signs a competitiveness agreement with the Lombardy Region

The Lombardy Region and Pirelli have signed a competitiveness agreement which provides for a non-repayable regional contribution of 1,9 million euros to the Total Safety System Research & Development project conducted by the group in its research center in Milan Bicocca.

The project, which is developed by Pirelli Tire and has a duration of 24 months, has a total cost of 5,35 million and is part of the activities related to the development of a new generation of tires based on the concept of total safety. The research activity will extend to all phases of product conception and design: from the use of new materials, to the development of a new fully automated finished product control technology, up to the implementation of new application systems for safety based on the sensorized tyre.

The agreement favors further growth of the R&D activities of the Pirelli headquarters in Milan Bicocca, which houses the main Research and Development center of the group which currently employs over 400 people. The contribution from the Region will make it possible to hire, in the 2015-2017 period, twelve new R&D employees, who will add to the 130 already engaged in activities related to the implementation of the project.
