Pasta Rummo: a Poste Italiane stamp for the 175th anniversary of the company

From today, a Poste Italiane stamp celebrates the 175th anniversary of Rummo, the symbol of Made in Italy pasta whose history began in Benevento in 1846.

The stamp celebrating the special anniversary, issued by the Ministry of Economic Development with the cancellation of Poste Italiane, is part of the thematic series "The excellences of the productive and economic system".

The initiative bears witness to the importance of the company for the Italian productive fabric, confirming the value of the more than XNUMX-year-old entrepreneurial activity and attesting to the absolute quality of the pasta factory's products, an international icon of Italian food and wine.

The effigy on the stamp depicts the symbol of the company from Benevento: the signum of the three horses, which in the early 900s transported grain from Campania and Puglia destined for the mill and its manufacturing processes. A unique method, the Lenta Lavorazione® patented by the company, which has gone through all the stages of a family business that has been able to innovate and renew itself, in the wake of the best Italian food tradition.

“We are happy and honored to receive this recognition, on the occasion of this special day” declares Cosimo Rummo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rummo SpA “The company has certainly changed since 1846, but we never forget our history, made of challenges and great successes which, even in times of difficulty, have strengthened our care for the quality of the products and the values of our land. This important moment leads us to reflect on the results achieved and the tests passed to get here, but also and above all to imagine what the future of Rummo will be like, continuously growing in the world and with solid Italian roots. A Group that will continue to make innovation and the pursuit of excellence the primary prerogatives for its growth”.

Rummo SpA is today a Group that has over 160 employees and a turnover of 122 million euros. The pasta factory exports its products to 60 countries around the world and to 5 continents, with an increasing value of its turnover – equal to 35% – relating to exports. 2020 was a positive year for the company, of growth on the Italian and international market and new product launches: compared to 2019, the overall growth was +41%, despite the difficult year that invested the agri-food sectors in following the lockdown and the consequent closure of various sales channels.

The secret of success for Rummo can still be found in the choice of quality raw materials, which together with Lenta Lavorazione® give the products unique characteristics and which in 2011 allowed the company to obtain the Bureau Veritas certification for pasta cooking resistance and for the quality of the durum wheat semolina used. The product portfolio has since expanded to a wide range of formats, including dry, organic, wholemeal, egg and gluten-free pasta.

But the story of Rummo, which has reached its 175th anniversary, is also a story of rebirth: the one that got the company back on its feet after the terrible flood that hit the Sannio area in 2015. The Benevento factory was hit by a wave more than 8 meters high. No employee was injured, but the plants were damaged with the consequent suspension of production cycles for a few months.
