Opposition, mini Aventine in sight

Pd, Udc and Idv plan to desert the Deputies Chamber tomorrow, where at 11 PM Berlusconi will ask Parliament for a new vote of confidence – The goal is to send a strong political and institutional signal.

Opposition, mini Aventine in sight

Now the opposition wants to go all the way. After the slip of the majority, which was sensationally yesterday rejected in Montecitorio on the budget law, the centre-left is not going to dismiss the episode as a hiccup (Berlusconi dixit). He wants to give a strong signal of discontinuity, to make it clear to the country and to the Quirinale that something has broken.

And, to do so, he chooses the path of protest. It begins this afternoon, with the Democratic Party which – on Franceschini's orders – deserts the House Commissions en bloc. But the main dish, it seems, will arrive tomorrow morning. In fact, it seems that the Democrats, UDC and IDV are planning to go into hiding and not even show up in the Chamber at 11, when the premier will ask for yet another vote of confidence in Parliament, which will be held on Friday.

The reserves will be dissolved today at 19 pm in the UDC headquarters, where all the opposition forces will illustrate the belligerent plans. In short, a kind of looms mini secession of the Aventine, as someone has already imprudently renamed it. Perhaps it's good to remember that, in those days, there wasn't exactly a happy ending.
