Russian oligarchs against Putin: 'He buried Russia'

The love between Vladimir Putin and the Russian oligarchs may have ended. To prove it came an audio broadcast by Novaya Gazeta Europe and by the Ukrainian media that it is creating a lot of discontent between Moscow and the Kremlin. “Putin buried Russia, he screwed everyone and everything, the entire country, the entire population,” is clearly heard in the telephone conversation allegedly between Russian billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov and music producer Iosif Prigozhin.

The conversation between the two oligarchs

The audio, leaked a few weeks ago, dates back to about two months ago, but was released only today by what was once Russia's leading independent newspaper and by Ukrainian newspapers. During the conversation, the two oligarchs comment on what has been happening in the last year following the invasion of Ukraine and do not hide their concern about the country's future. “Putin buried Russia, he screwed everyone and everything, the whole country, the entire population”. The two express their dissatisfaction and appear frightened by the sanctions due to Russia's war in Ukraine. According to the interlocutors, this would be among other things the prevailing opinion among the Russian elite.

"There is no doubt that they have screwed up ... and the country," says the interlocutor identified as Iosif Prigozhin. “They are blaming Sergey Shoigu for everything. They're calling him a piece of m….a, obviously behind his back,” she says. The other man, who appears to be the oligarch Akhmedov, advises Prigozhin to "sell everything", and then talks about his situation: "my card has been blocked", he says, while the boat he owns "rots". . “They write that I am a close friend of Putin! Fan…o. The last time I saw Putin was in 2008,” he says.

Prigozhin: “It's not me”

Iosif Prigozhin said he was not the one to speak in the telephone conversation he stated: “As I was listening to the audio, I too almost believed it was me, today's technologies, networks can be used to spoof not just a voice but a conversation,” he said.
