New funding for hydrogen against CO2. The government chooses Invitalia for 2023 industrial projects

Hydrogen for future Italian energy scenarios passes through Invitalia. Until 30 June, the public company is keeping a desk open for companies that have plans for "Hard-To-Abbot - Hta". The overall availability is 1 billion euro and supports research and implementation projects for decarbonization based on green hydrogen. The call is aimed in particular at those industrial sectors that make extensive use of fossil fuels and that have more than one difficulty in converting production cycles. From bank credits, to the modification of production lines, to specialized manpower. In the sector of cement, in paper mills, in ceramics, gas and oil are used to a large extent, but can be replaced by zero-emission hydrogen. The procedure for granting funding is evaluative and proposals will be examined on a first-come, first-served basis. In case of lack of funds for surplus of questions the Ministry has announced that it will issue a specific decree.

Hydrogen for both research and production uses

La access request loans can also be presented in the aggregate form of several subjects, up to a maximum of five companies. The aim is to grow a widespread system that with clean processes and less discharges bring down the levels of CO2. The billion euro follows two main guidelines: 450 million for experimental research projects of low-carbon hydrogen and investment projects to produce hydrogen. In this area, Italy boasts some successes in the patents . 550 million are instead destined for direct productive investments. The funding is a fund lost. For research and development they can reach up to 80% of the expenditure; for investments up to 60%. It is also important to consult the notice to identify the 2007 Ateco codes of the proposing company

The electrolysers

The Hard-To-Abate – Hta initiative belongs to the Ministry of the Environment which relies on platform, Invitalia specification. "The financial endowment - explains the Company - derives from the resources made available by Mission 2, Component 2 of the Pnrr for the implementation of Investment 3.2". As for direct investments, it should be kept in mind that the proposals that envisage the installation of will certainly be more interesting electrolysers and storage tanks. In Italy we have just begun to invest in this equipment which is the core business of hydrogen on an industrial scale. The market prices of this equipment are, however, still high and often the investment by entrepreneurs. A medium-sized company, in the transitional phase of transition to non-polluting energy systems, has doubts about the replacement of old fuels. Not least in his favor is the drop in prices and the availability of natural gas or LNG after the surges of 2022. The warning is, however, an incentive to take charge of a piece of the energy transition. That shouldn't be abandoned.
