Cdp appointments, there is an agreement: Palermo new ad

A surprise summit convened at Palazzo Chigi at the end of the morning would have made it possible to find an agreement on the appointments to the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti after the tough tug of war triggered with the M5S and the Lega over the candidate preferred by Minister Tria. Fabrizio Palermo will be the new director of Cassa Depositi. Finally, the agreement on the appointments came. An internal choice, but marked by discontinuity. The government, after a surprise meeting convened at Palazzo Chigi, let it filter that an agreement had been found for the appointments of the heads of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

During the meeting, an agreement was also reached for the appointment of the new director general of the Treasury: he will be Alessandro Rivera, current head of the banking department, a trusted man of Economy Minister Giovanni Tria.

The summit was urgently convened at the end of the morning at Palazzo Chigi by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and this time - unlike Thursday when it was first called and then canceled - the three ministers concerned presented themselves: Tria for the Mef, about to leave for the G20, Luigi Di Maio as deputy prime minister of the M5S and Giancarlo Giorgetti undersecretary to the Presidency for the League.

So this seems to be the epilogue of hard arm wrestling which in recent days has opposed Minister Tria, in favor of the appointment of Dario Scannapieco, vice president of the EIB and previously of Goldman Sachs, as managing director for CDP. On the other hand, the M5S with Luigi Di Maio who was instead pushing for the promotion of Fabrizio Palermo, the current CFO of CDP very close to the pentastellati, for whom there was also talk of a tandem assignment with Scannapieco as general manager. The impasse on the appointments led to two successive postponements of the assembly of the Cassa which will meet next Tuesday.

It is not excluded that in the match the compensations are found at the top of Rai and Ferrovie. The meeting of the CDP is scheduled for the 24th (for which the Foundations have indicated Massimo Tononi as president), in which the official announcement on the appointment of Palermo is awaited, but a council of ministers is also expected to kick off the designation of the two Rai councilors appointed by the government, destined to become president and managing director of public TV. For the railways, on the other hand, the hypothesis of the appointment of Giuseppe Bonomi, ex Sea, seems to be gaining ground in place of the current CEO, Renato Mazzoncini.
