No-Triv: the fraudulent referendum

There are three reasons that would suggest not going to vote in the referendum called by the no-Trivs: first, in reality the referendum question does not concern the drills; second, in the vast majority of cases it is gas, not oil; thirdly, the consultation was called only to reaffirm the power of the Regions on energy issues

No-Triv: the fraudulent referendum

Il referendum against the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in the Adriatic Sea is a real scam to the detriment of citizens who, in good faith, thought they were voting against the danger of pollution of our coasts and for the protection of the sea.

Apart from the economic considerations on the renunciation of investments and job opportunities in a sector in which Italy enjoys a good reputation on international markets, there are three reasons which would suggest not going to vote in order not to give rise to some scammers who, in an instrumental way, they stir up non-existent dangers for purely political ends, regardless of the damage they can cause to the country and its citizens.

In primo luogo, the referendum question does not concern the drills, as they say, but only the possible possibility of continuing to exploit, at the time of expiry of the concession, deposits which have already been in production for some time and which could continue their activity which has been going on for many years without any damage to the environment, and on the contrary, facilitating the production of excellent mussels which represent 25% of the total production of "mussels" of Ravenna.

Secondly, it should be noted that in the vast majority of cases it is not a question of oil extraction, but of gas, which is considered by ecologists themselves to be clean energy, and which was the basis of Italy's economic growth after the Second World War thanks to Eni's discoveries in the Po Valley.

The third reason is the decisive one. The referendum has been promoted from many Regions, in the first row the Puglia of the governor Emiliano, for purely political reasons namely to reassert the power of the Regions on energy issues compared to the State's attempts to recentralize certain fundamental policies for the economy of the entire country, such as transport and energy. The Regions, especially the southern ones, have certainly not deserved well, in the past decades, for their choices in the economic field and therefore it does not seem appropriate to support this claim of theirs.

The instrumentality of the referendum is so evident that Emiliano himself does not hesitate to resort to the the most bizarre arguments, tending to arouse the most irrational fears or to reassure about the possibility of continuing to enjoy all the comforts of modern life (heating, car, cooking gas) even without the production of our seas. Lastly, for example, Emiliano went so far as to argue that Puglia produces energy from renewable sources sufficient to satisfy all needs, including that of mobility, as if electric or solar-powered cars already existed. As everyone knows, over 65% of Italy's energy needs are covered by hydrocarbons since we do not have nuclear power (as in France) and we do not use coal (as in Germany).

The truth is that there are already numerous platforms near the Italian coasts which have not caused any ecological problems and which are continuously monitored by the authorities responsible for this purpose. Leveraging irrational fears for the purposes of one's political workshop is incorrect and fraudulent. Better not to lend yourself to these power games which end up damaging jobs and the growth opportunities of the entire country.
