A "Boccata d'Arte" arrives in the Italian villages: exhibitions and installations in 20 sites until September

The Italian villages are depopulated but the artists do not give up on giving them a soul For the third consecutive year, convinced supporters of the sustainability and habitability of ancient hamlets that can still attract people, 20 artists are promoting A Mouthful of Art. Exhibitions, performances, videos, paintings, sculptures, photos, installations in 20 villages from north to south of the peninsula.

Of all the state and local projects of revitalization of the villages, this initiative of Elpis Foundation, Galleria Continua and lrees Productions aims to reconcile people with the singular atmospheres scattered by the thousands throughout Italy.

The environment and territoriality they are prevalent as elements of context to revive places detached from the cities, but not impossible. Where recovery projects have been well organised, the quality of life has attracted people from the metropolis.

The exhibitions in the villages until September

A Boccata d'Arte presents itself, therefore, as a cultural itinerary which invites the public to discover 20 new villages, rich in traditions and scenic beauty. In the village meetings are held, debates and discussions come alive by closely exploring the expressive forms of the artists. A widespread project, there is no doubt, which has brought together many personalities and which with the guide of Marina Nissim, president of the Elpis Foundation, has been able to consolidate.

This year we thought about what happens outside Italy: ours is "a dialogue that from Italy opens its gaze increasingly to the current international situation, with the involvement of numerous foreign artists for this third edition, which is about to start", adds Nissim. There is confidence that the combination of art and tourism with the protection of the environment and the landscape, it repeats itself this time too. For those ancient places - which occasionally someone even wants to put up for sale - to return to being populated and lived in by families who do not have to bear inconvenience for the services or structures of necessity such as schools, health facilities, places of leisure and study, transport . Until mid-September artists will be the core of a revival but then they will leave the task to the institutions of rethinking and reviving seductive places.
