Mps on a roller coaster after the ECB letter

The stock, which started out in the red on the list, has reversed course and is clearly up on the speculative drive. The Stock Exchange bets on an extraordinary operation with a new partner

Mps on a roller coaster after the ECB letter

Eyes on Banca Mps at the opening of trading on the Stock Exchange, after late yesterday evening it emerged that according to the European Central Bank, the 3 billion capital increase is not enough to solidify the fundamentals of the institution. Stocks started off down around 1%, but then turned higher to gain more than 1%.

Now earn 1,87% settling at 0,56 euro. The speculation that is already starting to bet on an imminent extraordinary operation, solicited directly by the central institute led by Mario Draghi, is pushing the prices of the Sienese institute upwards. According to the ECB, in fact, the three billion capital increase by Monte dei Paschi alone does not provide "the permanent solution to the bank's structural problems". In the letter authorizing the recapitalization and repayment of the Monti Bonds signed by Mario Draghi, the ECB "reminds" Monte Paschi that there are two other points of the Capital plan drawn up in November "that must be implemented": the reduction of non-performing loans and the restructuring, i.e. marriage to a partner.
