Mps, pm Siena: "Freemasonry did not decide on Antonveneta"

During the hearing before the commission of inquiry into banks, the Sienese prosecutors defend Bankitalia and attack the "5% gang - Title in deep red in Piazza Affari.

In the sale of Antonveneta there was no influence of Freemasonry. This was stated by the deputy prosecutor Antonino Nastasi during thethe hearing before the Commission of Inquiry on Banks.

After listening to the Milanese magistrates, the body chaired by Pier Ferdinando Casini also wanted to consult the prosecutors who were the first to deal with the MPS affair, whose investigation, in 2014, led to the first instance conviction of the former heads of the Sienese institute for obstructing supervision (the appeal is currently underway in the Court of Florence). In addition to Nastasi, the chief prosecutor of Siena, Salvatore Vitiello, and the prosecutor Aldo Natalini are also present.

Meanwhile in Piazza Affari MPS title travels in deep red, losing 4,3% to 3,336 euros.

Returning to Parliament, Nastasi referred to Bank of Italy, stating that, during the investigation into MPS, Bank of Italy assured the Sienese prosecutor's office of "full, loyal and fruitful collaboration". "We asked to send all the documentation relating to the acquisition process of Banca Antonveneta from 2007 to October 2008 and Bankitalia sent us everything".

The magistrate subsequently reported that the Bank of Italy, in a disclosure to Consob in May 2012, had jointly analyzed the restructuring of Alexandria and the 2034 BTP transaction, transactions which the bank claimed to be separate, and "jointly analyzing the two operations, the economic effects can be appreciated in parallel but not the proof of the connection” i.e. the mandate agreement.

One of the most important topics covered at the hearing was inevitably the acquisition of Antonveneta. Responding to a question from a member of the Commission, Nastasi in fact reiterated that no Freemasonry influences were found in the buying and selling operation.

The magistrate also explained that the merger between MPS and BBVA, at the end of 2006, was blocked one step away from signing. According to various interrogations, on the day of the acronym, the president of the Gabriello Mancini Foundation blocked everything by declaring that he had received a stoppage from the representatives of local institutions. Against the operation, as reported by Nastasi, were the former mayor Maurizio Cenni, the former president of the Province Fabio Ceccherini and the former president of the bank Giuseppe Mussari.

Harsh words even against the now known “5% bandwidth”, which according to the accusations also belonged to Gianluca Baldassarri, former head of the finance area. The operations were done Enigma and with Lambda, two foreign brokers, and they brought "a sure profit to the detriment of Monte dei Paschi", as reported by Natalini.
