He committed suicide by jumping from the window of his office in Rocca Salimbeni. David Rossi, the communication manager of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, died on the spot.
It seems that he left a note addressed to his wife that reads "I screwed up". Rossi threw himself from a height of about ten metres. The first to notice what happened was his secretary.
Born in Siena on 2 June 1961, he had a degree in modern literature. Since 2006 he had been responsible for the Montepaschi Group communication area at the behest of Giuseppe Mussari. On 19 February he had undergone a search of his office, as part of the investigation by the Siena prosecutor's office into Monte dei Paschi, but he was not among the suspects.
