Monti: without manoeuvre, Italy like Greece

“Without this package Italy collapses, goes to one situation similar to that of Greece, a country for which we have great sympathy but which we do not want to imitate". The words with which Prime Minister Mario Monti comments to the international press on the package of measures approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers are words of alarm.

As for relations with politics, the Professor says he trusts the "support of Parliament", where he can count on the support of forces that "until the day before yesterday did not speak to each other and fought against each other" and who even found it "embarrassing to appear together in a new initiative through the presence of ministers coming from them in my government”.

It is a matter of "different forces, which talk little and which look to us, in the centre-right asking for continuity and in the centre-left asking for discontinuity". In any case, today's government is made up of "technical figures who will later disappear from the scene".
