Monte dei Paschi di Siena put 1,8 billion euros of non-performing loans up for sale as part of its capital strengthening plan.

As reported by Reuters, which cites a source close to the situation, the portfolio would be "made up of secured and unsecured loans to small and medium-sized enterprises, broadly equally divided, and is attracting the attention of all those operating in the sector the purchase of non-performing loans". The project, which takes the name of "Eva", would have attracted the interest of more than 20 companies.

The transaction is expected to be concluded between the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016. The plan would have started last week with the sending of the 'teaser' to interested investors”. The purpose of Mps is to cto sell 5,5 billion euro of non-performing loans between 2015 and 2018, as envisaged in the update of the business plan.
