The group Mondadori, through the subsidiary Rizzoli Bookshas sold the publishing house Bompiani to the Florentine group Giunti Publisher for 16,5 million euros, including 5,3 million relating to assets transferred to the buyer. The forecast for 2016 relating to the scope of the sale estimates revenues of 15,3 million and a normalized EBITDA of 1,3 million. Thus ends the race to conquer Bompiani which before the summer had seen almost a tenth of players in the sector interested, including Amazon and HarperCollins.

For the Mondadori group, on the other hand, this closes the transfers chapter - which was opened with the sale also of Marsilio Editori to the De Michelis family – in compliance with the Antitrust provision as part of the acquisition of Rizzoli Libri from the RCS group, finalized on 14 April 2016. The completion of the transaction, recalls a note from Segrate, is subject to prior approval by Agcm.

Giunti Editore, historic Florentine publishing house – heir to a long tradition that began in 1841 – is the parent company of one of the main Italian publishing groups; in 2015, with the publishing houses and the chain of 190 bookshops under the Giunti al Punto brand, it achieved a consolidated turnover of 198 million euro.
