A traveling exhibition, which will last until December 2020: the initiative is by the Anna Kuliscioff Foundation, in collaboration with the National Women's Union.

Milan, the city of women: exhibition in progress

The exhibition in progress opens on 22 January at 18.30 with an inaugural aperitif at the Women's Union, in Corso di Porta Nuova in Milan Milan, the city of women. An opportunity to discover, get to know and "see" some of the many female figures, Milanese excellences by birth or adoption, who, in different eras, and with different roles, have influenced and contributed with their ideas, their talent and their commitment to the cultural and social growth of the city of Milan and of our country in general.

Organized by the Anna Kuliscioff Foundation and the National Women's Union, the exhibition in progress will present each month a group of protagonists, inserted in a context of belonging by affinities and themes. The initiative is part of the program of the Department of Culture-Municipality of Milan Women's talents and will take place - for the January-March appointments - between the National Women's Union and the Museum of the Risorgimento with free admission.

The itinerary of the exhibition provides for each female figure to pose a panel with photos, biography and reproduction of documents, e will be accompanied by specific initiatives: exhibition of period documents, seminars, meetings, scenic readings and theatrical entertainment. Some of the female figures will be revisited by the works of Chiara Corio, in which manual work and creativity are preciously united: material collages, assemblages of fabric, paper and other reused materials, combined with mixed three-dimensional painting and drawing techniques.

The groups of protagonists who will take turns during 2020:

• Passion in a pen: journalists, poets, writers, activists;
• The Risorgimento;
• The season of emancipationism and suffragism;
• On the side of need and children;
• The signature and style of female entrepreneurship;                          
• Soul and smile of an artist;
• Free in research and professions;                                  
• Commitment to the Resistance, to the union, to politics

So we start the 22 January with the inaugural aperitif introducing the first group: "Passion in a pen: journalists, poets, writers, activists". The protagonists: Anna Maria Mozzoni, Ada Negri, Ersilia Majno Bronzini, Anna Kuliscioff, Margherita Sarfatti, Neera, Marchesa Colombi, Antonia Pozzi, Alda Merini, Camilla Cederna, Anna Del Bo Boffino, Brunella Gasperini, Gabriella Parca, Fernanda Pivano, Lalla Romano .

On January 30, 17.30 - 19.30, again at the National Women's Union, the first in-depth meeting dedicated to "Journalists, writers, militants between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries". The meeting, organized by the National Women's Union and IRIS, provides for the certificate of attendance for updating, valid for the purposes of compulsory training.

The meeting is part of the cycle “The seasons of Milanese journalism between the XNUMXth and XNUMXst centuries” as part of the Milanosifastoria project, and will deal with some protagonists of Milan in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The speakers will analyze what it meant to be a journalist at that time, what role they played with their collaboration in men's newspapers and/or with the creation of women's publications, the obstacles encountered and the alliances forged to claim social, civil and political rights for women women and, therefore, greater rights for all.
