Microsoft has a new CEO: Satya Nadella, the cloud man

After a long wait, Microsoft finally has a new CEO. Is called Satya Nadella and to date has been the number one in the cloud computing division. His appointment, anticipated in recent days by various American media, was made official today by the Redmond giant.

Nadella takes the place of Steve Ballmer, who last August announced his departure within a year. Co-founder and chairman Bill Gates, on the other hand, takes on a new role, that of technology consultant, leaving his position to John Thompson.

The new CEO – who has worked for Microsoft for 22 years – will also occupy a seat on the company's board of directors.

In recent months, one of the most popular names for the succession to Ballmer was that of Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor, who had however repeatedly expressed his willingness to remain at the helm of the car manufacturer. In the end, the internal line also won at Microsoft.
