Metroweb, Bassanini: "Open to agreements"

Metroweb "is open to agreements with whoever can stay there". This was stated by Franco Bassanini, president of Metroweb, speaking at the EY conference underway in Capri after the reopening arrived yesterday by Telecom Italia on the dossier.

A Telecom board meeting will be held on Friday 16 October and the main topic on the table will be the renewed proposal by F2i and Fsi – the two shareholders of Metroweb – to reopen a discussion on the issue of ultra-broadband.

Yesterday the president of Telecom, Giuseppe Recchi, said that the group has "no foreclosure" on the Metroweb dossier and that the company is always open to undertaking operations that allow the network to be built.

F2i and Fsi say they are now willing, under certain conditions, to accept that the new generation network passes entirely to Telecom but once the investment plan is completed, a project that could take at least five years to implement, and which obviously will have to offer guarantees to other competitors to avoid rejection by the Antitrust.
