Merkel: EU take example from.. Indonesia

The German chancellor thus intervened on the occasion of her official visit to the Asian country, the fourth most populated in the world and a candidate to become the new "I" of the BRICS thanks to a growth rate of 6% and a public debt cut short in a few years from 80% of GDP to 24%.

Other than growth and Eurobonds. The recipe against the crisis, according to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is to follow the example of Indonesia: "The Asian country can become an excellent example of an economy with lasting growth: under the current presidency of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono sovereign debt has fallen from 80% of GDP to 24%”. These are precisely the words of Frau Angela, spoken not by chance on the occasion of her visit to Indonesia today.

“Europe should take it as a model – continued Merkel – above all because Indonesia has managed to take these giant steps in the short term, within a few years”. The state led by President Yudhoyono is the fourth most populated on the planet (240 million inhabitants), and is therefore a candidate to become the new "I" of the Brics acronym, which sees emerging countries represented. Indeed, in addition to the results cited by the German chancellor, Indonesia is the leading economy in South-East Asia and one of the most dynamic, with an annual growth rate of 6%.

The meeting was also an opportunity to reach trade agreements that will see the trade between Germany and Indonesia to double by 2015, reaching 12 billion dollars (nearly 10 billion euros). In particular, Jakarta has already announced the purchase of 100 Leopard tanks for its army, for a value of approximately 230 million euros.
