Matera 2019: the Museum of the Re-sniffed Object makes its debut

The Matera 2019 appointments are original and stimulating and are going in the right direction as regards sustainability, the preservation of memory and an open culture. It was included in the program of events as a symbolic event of a community that collects things, objects and offers them for collective enjoyment. Even as a game. A museum certainly, but not cold. A place that must captivate and involve those who decide to frequent it. Here we are, then, at the inauguration of MEMORI on Friday 3 May. : the Euro-Mediterranean Museum of the RE-sniffed Object. A physical container, the synthesis of a Mediterranean journey where fragments, traces, collected and rejected objects are exhibited. Actually reworked. They were taken in 5 Mediterranean cities (Genoa, Marseille, Malaga, Tunis and Tétouan) and 5 in Basilicata (Bernalda, Venosa, Matera, Muro Lucano, Potenza). Hosted in the Santa Maria De Armenis church, the MEMORI., was thus wanted by the La luna al Guinzaglio Association and by the Matera Basilicata 2019 Foundation itself. The Cooperative Credit Bank of Basilicata gave its help through its own ethical fund.

MEMORIES. it has 5 sections, specifically Rooms, where you shouldn't be in a hurry. You must be calm and relaxed to participate, even before to see. The invitation is to let time pass to give a reason for the visit. If you observe the objects of these lands, you understand that there is experience inside. Something that generations of farmers, shepherds, men of hard work have used to live, sometimes to survive, and then preserved over time as if to mirror themselves. A memory that cannot be erased and if you know how to keep it, it leads you towards modernity. Towards "dialogues and contaminations, factors decided to create community" write the authors of the Moon on a Leash. Arrivals at the Museum equipped with the Matera 2019 Passport, the pass invented by the Foundation to allow wide access for 19 euros throughout the year. You enter the Stanza dei Segni, in that of Fragments, then in those of Falls and Repetitions and from 27 May also in that of Chimeras. Before crossing the rooms there is the Anarchive. A truly unusual place where you can find particular installations that open access to the Spontaneous Museum. An artistic correlation with objects owned by citizens of Basilicata. The other side of local memory, enriched by tales, anecdotes, stories. An authentic world, long forgotten where objects describe living and working environments also marked by suffering and hardship.

The peculiarity of MEMORI. they are also those objects that thanks to the creativity of individuals, to which mechanical or electronic devices have been added to make them interactive for visitors. A captivating sensory and mnemonic game. A hand-mission to try, because with the use of one's own hands everyone can enjoy a multi-sensory fruition. A total contrast to the "no touch" of classic exhibitions that will surely attract visitors. The staging will last until 7 July to then go to festivals and exhibitions in other European cities.
