Maria Teresa Ortoleva with a new version of Triumphus Visionis

From 21 September to 14 October 2016, the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, in the exhibition space in via Vigevano 9 in Milan, hosts the second appointment with the Project Room.

Maria Teresa Ortoleva with a new version of Triumphus Visionis

The protagonist will be Maria Teresa Ortoleva (Milan, 1990) who proposes a new version of Triumphus Visionis, a work installed for the first time in 2015 on the grand staircase of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan and presented in the Vatican Pavilion on the occasion of Expo 2015.

“Painter by training – says Federico Giani, curator of the initiative – Maria Teresa Ortoleva explores the link between the dynamics of vision and imagination, developing research that draws freely on the most disparate sectors of humanistic and scientific culture. Her mode of intervention in space is realized in installations with a primary sculptural value, environmental situations capable of guiding the viewer's gaze and action, making him a participant in the creative process of the work”.

Heart of Triumphus Visionis is a digital print on chiffon about 10 meters long, the product of a process of stratification and selection of images, developed starting from a careful examination of archives, digital databases and search engines, as well as from the study of the history of bestiaries, representations of diagrams and the history of drawing.

Compared to the 2015 version, the Milanese artist now focuses more on interaction with the viewer by placing mirrors, platforms and seats under the chiffon at the visitor's disposal, called to self-determine his own way of using the work in a dynamic of active vision.

The materials, drawings and notes that make up the subtext of Triumphus Visionis, exhibited for the first time on this occasion, will also make it possible to explore the installation according to an analytical approach.

On 15 October (XII Contemporary Day promoted by AMACI – Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums) on the occasion of the Triumphus Visionis finissage, the Foundation invites all visitors, young and old, to participate in a workshop led by the artist.

With the Project Room initiative, the Foundation makes its spaces and skills available to young Under 30 artists in the field of conception and implementation of artistic projects, also promoting a series of educational activities curated by the Education Section to accompany the little ones to discover of contemporary art.

The Project Rooms and all related initiatives are realized thanks to the support of EasyReading Multimedia and the collaboration of Blazing Strategies International Ltd.
