Marchionne: with Bombassei president Fiat would return to Confindustria

Fiat is ready to return to Confindustria if Alberto Bombassei becomes the new president of Viale dell'Astronomia. “The way of working that Confindustria has implemented up to now is no longer enough. The program presented by Bombassei is certainly innovative and dedicated to the radical change of the Association. We recognize ourselves in this renewal process which, should it be completed, it would lay the foundations for a return of Fiat to Confindustria". These are the words of Sergio Marchionne, managing director of Lingotto.

“Although Fiat has left Confindustria – continues Marchionne – I recognize the importance that the association will have in relaunching the Italian economy. The choice of the future president is therefore very important. Giorgio Squinzi and Alberto Bombassei are two respectable people and two great industrialists. I can't comment on Squinzi because I don't know him personally”, explains the CEO, underlining that “Bombassei, on the other hand, I know him very well: he is an entrepreneur of absolute value who leads a company that has been supplying excellent products to the Fiat, Ferrari and recently Chrysler. Brembo is at the forefront of technology and has a strong international vocation”.

Bombassei is “a man open to dialogue, innovation and change. These qualities of him would be very useful to Confindustria which will have to be profoundly renewed in order to participate as a protagonist in the modernization of our country, in line with the reforms that the Monti government is carrying out ”, concludes Marchionne.
