Majority and Abi in government: not just taxation, relaunching development

Not only tax, but also and above all development. This is the message that the same majority sends to the Executive, in the resolution to the Chamber on the note of variation of the Economic and Financial Document (Def). A message that is echoed in the banks, in the hearing of the ABI in the Senate, in the Finance Committee

Majority and Abi in government: not just taxation, relaunching development

“In the ambit of structural reform policies”, the Government must adopt “regulatory interventions aimed at relaunching development and employment, particularly in the South, in order to ensure social cohesion and better protection of the weaker sections of society". This is what the resolution of the majority presented to the Chamber on the note of variation of the Def. The text bears the signatures of Fabrizio Cicchitto (Pdl), Marco Reguzzoni (Lega) and Silvano Moffa (Pt). The resolution retraces the macroeconomic data already contained in the note updating the Def, such as the balanced budget in 2013 and the decrease in debt since 2012. But then it "commits the Government" to "structural reforms" which will include oriented measures " to the relaunch of development and employment”.

And to the solicitation of the majority for measures that give impetus to growth and development is added that of the banks. It is clear, Giuseppe Mussari, president of the ABI, in front of the members of the Finance commission of Palazzo Madama: the country has "urgent need to regain an orderly tax system" which passes through interventions of "redistribution of the tax burden in order to reduce the burden of taxation for households and businesses". A move that would "give a boost to growth and constitute an element of credibility on an international level".

Mussari insists: "A coherent legal framework accompanied by serious measures to redistribute the tax burden in order to reduce the burden of taxation for households and businesses would boost growth". The president of ABI therefore recalls that "there is widespread awareness that taxation can play an important role in overcoming the crisis". But, underlines Mussari recalling what has already emerged from the international tables, the taxman "may be part of the solution, but not the only actor".

Finally, the majority commits the executive to "implementing" the indications of the Environment and Public Works commission, which, examining the Def Update note last Thursday, indicated some roads to be included in the Strategic Infrastructure Programme. These works are the Variante della Tremezzina (SS 340 'Regina'), the "project for the Pedemontana Veneta connection and ordinary roads in the provinces of Treviso, Vicenza and Padua taken from the Bassano Ovest to Limena tollbooth", the section of the state road 415 'Paullese' from Spino d'Adda to Dovera in the province of Cremona, the extension of the Statale 434 'Transpolesana', beyond the A4 motorway up to Verona.
