Lucchini: Duferco consortium will not submit a binding offer

The Italian consortium led by Duferco, which had presented the expression of interest for the assets of the Lucchini plants in Piombino and Lecco, will not present the binding offer. This was announced in a note by Lucchini, which is in extraordinary administration, explaining that Antonio Gozzi (Duferco Italia Holding spa) and Giuseppe Pasini (Feralpi Siderurgica spa), also representing Alessandro Banzato (Acciaierie Venete spa), met this morning with the Extraordinary Commissioner of Lucchini, Piero Nardi.

During the meeting, they communicated to the Commissioner that, despite having expressed their interest in the business complexes of Piombino and Lecco on 7 January 2014, they do not believe there are the environmental conditions in Piombino to continue further with the sale procedure started. Therefore they declared that they have taken the decision not to submit the Non-Binding Offer. This determination and the reasons that led to it were explained verbally by the entrepreneurs to the main local and national institutions.
