Waiting for cashback plan, it's time for receipt lottery. From Tuesday 1 December it will in fact be possible to register on the portal created by the Government and obtain the lottery code to be used to participate in the drawings that will start in January 2021.

RECEIPT LOTTERY: WHAT IT IS

The receipt lottery is a free prize competition, linked to the electronic receipt and represents one of the measures devised by the Government to discourage tax evasion and encourage consumption. All adult citizens residing in Italy can participate in the lottery. To do this, simply purchase a product (goods or services) at any commercial establishment, paying by credit card, debit card, debit card, prepaid card, card and app connected to private payment circuits with limited spending. The budget law currently under discussion in the Chamber excludes purchases made in cash from the draws. 

Attention, e-commerce operations are also excluded from the mechanism. 

RECEIPT LOTTERY: HOW IT WORKS

To participate in the lottery of receipts, it will be sufficient to obtain the lottery code and show it to the merchant at the time of purchase. The latter will associate the code with the receipt which will be sent to the Revenue Agency system which in turn will take care of generating the virtual tickets which will allow participation in the draws.

On the dedicated portal it is stated that: 

You will be entitled to a virtual ticket for every euro spent up to a maximum of 1000 virtual tickets for purchases equal to or greater than 1000 euro; 10 receipts can therefore get you up to 10.000 virtual tickets, 100 receipts up to 100.000 virtual tickets and so on. If the amount spent is greater than one euro, any decimal figure greater than 49 cents will in any case produce another virtual ticket”.

RECEIPT LOTTERY: THE EXTRACTIONS

The draws will start from 1 January 2021. The following will be carried out: 

  • "ordinary" weekly draws with seven prizes of 5.000 euros each;
  • weekly "zero cash" extractions with 15 prizes of 25.000 euros for consumers and 15 prizes of 5.000 euros for merchants;
  • "ordinary" monthly draws with 3 prizes of 30.000 euros;
  • monthly "zero cash" extractions with 10 prizes of 100.000 euros for consumers and 10 prizes of 20.000 euros for merchants.

There are also annual draws:

  • ordinary, with a prize of 1.000.000 euros
  • "zero cash" with a prize of 5.000.000 euros for the consumer and a prize of 1.000.000 euros for the merchant.

After each draw, the Customs and Monopolies Agency will send the winners a registered letter with return receipt or a PEC to inform them of the win. Furthermore, if your mobile phone number is also entered in the reserved area, the communication will also be made via text message.

RECEIPT LOTTERY: HOW TO GET THE CODE

Starting Tuesday, December 1 on the portal dedicated to the lottery it will be possible to register and obtain the appropriate code that will allow you to participate in the draws. 

To do this, you will need to access the portal and enter your tax code. Subsequently it will be sufficient to accept the privacy policy and enter the security code. Once these steps have been completed, the code will be displayed both in alphanumeric format and in the form of a barcode. At this point you will need to save it on your device or print it. 

If the code is lost, others can be requested.
