The Provinces survive: the IDV's proposal to abolish them has been rejected in the Chamber

The Chamber has rejected the proposal to abolish the provinces put forward by Italia dei valori. The majority voted against, while the Third Pole sided in favor of the request and the Democratic Party abstained.
“Today we had a golden opportunity to cut the provinces, but it was wasted due to the responsibility of the majority and also of the Democratic Party. We and IDV are the only ones left to wage this battle in Parliament”, commented the leader of the UDC, Pier Ferdinando Casini.
"Don't make us demagogic tirades - replied the secretary of the Democratic Party, Pierluigi Bersani - we have our own proposal which plans to reduce and merge the Provinces, but we must also say how to do it, because the Provinces manage a certain number of important things" .
