The banks save the Stock Exchange and double-digit exploits for Carige

Another rising session of bank stocks which saved Piazza Affari: the FtseMib index is flat but defends the trench of 21 basis points – However, the declines of Ferrari, Telecom Italia, Mediaset and Campari weigh.

Piazza Affari rounds up yesterday's earnings, in a colorless session for the European stock exchanges, devoid of macroeconomic cues and orphaned by Wall Street, closed for the 4th of July holiday. 

The Ftse Mib, +0,09%, 21.031 points, archives an ups and downs session, which comes alive in the mid-afternoon with thethe green light from the EU to state aid for MPS, for 5,4 billion. Shareholders and bondholders will contribute 4,3 billion euros to the rescue, while the Sienese bank will allocate up to 1,5 billion to the repayment of junior bonds belonging to victims of "misselling".

On this point, Minister Pier Carlo Padoan held a press conference together with the institute's top management, underlining the plan's sustainability. 

In red the other continental squares, taking into account that yesterday European equities recorded the best session since the election of Emmanuel Macron to the Elysée on April 24th. Madrid -0,35%; Frankfurt -0,31%; Paris -0,4%; London -0,27%.

The euro falls 0,12% against the dollar, 1,134. Oil grabs a modest rise, but growing after eight sessions: Brent +0,18%, 49,77 dollars a barrel. Rebound for gold: +0,35%, 1223,64 dollars an ounce.

Positive session for the bond: the spread between the Italian and German 2,56-year bonds falls 163.60%, 2,11 points, XNUMX%, while the ECB's chief economist, Peter Praet, says a prolonged recovery in euro zone inflation "fundamentally depends" on a cost of low money and, consequently, by an accommodative monetary policy by the European Central Bank.

Saipem stands out among the big Milanese companies, +3,72%, which benefits from the orders announced yesterday to the market for approximately 500 million dollars. The other oil stocks were also moderately positive, Eni +0,3% and Tenaris +0,21%.

The banks are super tonic after the news relating to Mps, even if the parliamentary process for the Venetians seems less calm than expected.

The best performances are from Ubi +4,03%; Bfor +3,4%; Banco Bpm +1,73%; Unicredit +1,65%, which yesterday finalized the sale of Pioneer to Amundi.

Outside the main list, Carige is irrepressible, +22,97%, thanks to the decisions taken by the board of directors, by the rreduction of npls to the 700 million capital strengthening plan, including the sale of some assets (for 200 million).

Sales hit Ferrari, -2,04%, while FCA, +0,1%, limits profit-taking after the rally on the eve. Declining Telecom -1,76%; Prysmian -1,55%; Camparis -1,44%. Weak utilities starting from Terna, -1,29%.
