The Hera Group, with its report "In good waters", renews its focus on informing citizens about the responsible use of this resource and its daily commitment to providing an excellent water service to over 3,6 million people. Suffice it to say that, in 2024 alone, the multi-utility invested €261 million in the water cycle (a figure that reaches €299 million when including projects financed by third parties or asset companies, exceeding the national average by 14%).
Of these investments 63% was allocated to the aqueduct, 16% to sewerage and 21% to purification. A concrete commitment to ensuring an efficient, safe service that meets environmental challenges, which concerns a vital resource of which each of us consumes an average of 215 liters per day for various purposes (Source: The European House – Ambrosetti, White Paper 2025).
Tap water is guaranteed by over a million analyses
In a country where 95% of citizens declare themselves to be environmentally consciousOnly 29% regularly drink tap water. This is a sobering figure, especially considering that Italy is among the European countries with the highest water quality. The Hera Group guarantees this quality with frequent and rigorous monitoring. In 2024, over 1,1 million analyses were performed in the areas served, more than 3.000 per day, with average concentrations for all parameters ranging from 68% to 93% below legal limits, or even completely absent.
It's always a good idea to check the labels on the products we use, what we eat, and what we drink. How many people know that tap water has its own label? The Hera Group includes it on its bill, updated every six months, with the results of analyses conducted in each municipality served. It's therefore possible to check it to verify its excellent quality. According to analyses, tap water is low in minerals, low in sodium, and rich in calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It's good, safe and comes straight to your home.The reduction in environmental impact is also significant: thanks to the 57% of Hera customers who drink it regularly or occasionally, over 460 million plastic bottles were avoided last year alone. If all Hera customers chose it constantly, the savings in bottles and small bottles would exceed one billion.
