Rai returns to profit with the fee in the bill

Rai closed 2016 with a profit of 18,1 million, against the loss of 25,6 million recorded in 2015. The budget was approved on Thursday by the Board of Directors.

The note from the public company also specifies that the net financial debt, if we exclude the receivables due from the State for license fees still to be paid, improves by around 42 million compared to 2015.

All this in a budget weighed down by spending, amounting to around 140 million euros, for major sporting events (European football championships and the summer Olympics).

The 2016 financial year benefited from the considerable success of the new mechanism for collecting the ordinary fee in the "electricity bill", with an overall increase in fee income of 272,2 million euros, equal to +16,6%.
