Poland and the EU structural funds

Huge financial resources from the EU are foreseen for Poland: an update from the Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Warsaw, very useful for our businesses

Poland is one of the countries for which the EU has the greatest amount of financial resources: in financial programming 2007-2013 they amount to over 80 billion euros, of which 67,3 billion come from the structural funds and the cohesion fund. It is also one of the countries where the available funds are allocated early and well.

On 31 August 2011, the lists of key projects under the Operational Programs were updated: Infrastructure and Environment, Innovative Economy, Development of Eastern Poland. The "key projects" are defined in the course of consultations with the social partners and, judged essential and strategic for the development of the State or the region, are not subject to the competition procedures. There are currently 675 projects on these lists for a total value of approximately 266,04 billion zlotys (over €60 billion). The projects concern new infrastructures, environmental protection, improvement of company competitiveness and training. This is an unprecedented opportunity also for Italian companies, strong both in their own technologies and in the experience acquired in the use of EU structural funds.

A newsletter edited by the Poland Structural Funds Desk in collaboration with the Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Warsaw (formerly the ICE Office) describes the situation of these projects in detail and provides much useful information to those who may be interested. It can be found on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development – Department for Enterprise and Internationalisation, and can be downloaded from the link:
