The PlayStation of the future arrives in Milan

Tomorrow in Milan, inside the Vodafone Store in the San Babila district, there will be an appointment that passionate gamers cannot miss. In the late evening, the anxious wait for the market launch of the new Play Station Vita portable console will end. On the eve of "Day one" enthusiasts can already dream with the characteristics of the latest Sony jewel.

The new console will be available in two models with very similar functions. 5-inch OLED screen with 16 million colors, motion sensor, dual cameras, two analog sticks, GPS tracker. The graphic impact of the portable device will not be far from that of its older sister Play Station 3 intended for home use. You have chosen not to equip your device with a 3D screen. Important availability concerns connectivity: it will be possible to choose between Wi-Fi and 3G in partnership with Vodafone.

The introductory price is set at $250 for the basic model to which we will need to add the outlay for the external memory device needed to use the console. It will also be possible to defer the payment over time with promotions that include an internet contract in collaboration with Vodafone. Sony is betting a lot on its new third-generation portable console, which will have to withstand the competition from Nintendo 3Ds at a time when the mobile videogame market is being displaced by the growth of substitute products such as smartphones and tablets.

The video game sector is still one of the flagships of the Japanese giant, which is not going through a good economic period. Precisely for these reasons, at the beginning of February Kazuo Hiari, manager who relaunched the PlayStation, was called to revive the company's fortunes which has lost almost 2 billion euros in the last year.
