In an interview with Rtl, Le Maire explained that the initiative is aimed at protecting competition: "I believe in an economy based on justice - said the minister - and I am therefore preparing to sue Google and Apple to the commercial court of Paris for unfair business practices” against French start-ups active in the digital sector.

“When developers want to sell their apps to Google or Apple, they are subject to tariffs – continued Le Maire – but Google and Apple can unilaterally modify developers' contracts. All of this is unacceptable, it's not the economy we want”.

Meanwhile, the date of March 21 is approaching when the European Commission will present the draft of a new continental web tax. "There are rules, justice, and everyone must respect them", concluded Le Maire, declaring his intention "to obtain the taxation of the digital giants by the end of 2018 for an application in Europe at the beginning of the 2019".
