IW Bank (Ubi): 14 former managers acquitted in Milan

All 14 former managers of IW Bank, the online bank of the UBI Banca group, who had been accused of obstructing Bank of Italy's supervision, were acquitted. According to the Gup of Milan Maria Cristina Mannocci, "the fact does not exist". Prosecutor Elio Ramondini had instead asked for a one-year and two-month prison sentence for each of the subjects involved, plus an administrative fine of 600 thousand euros for the bank, involved for administrative liability for crimes committed by employees.

The fact dates back to 2013, when Bank of Italy inspectors reported over a hundred irregular positions of IW Bank customers based on anti-money laundering regulations and registration in the Single IT Archive (AUI). Irregularities never reported by the Bank to the supervisory body and dating back to the years between 2008 and 2014.

The investigation involved, among others, the former managing director of Iw Bank, Alessandro Prampolini, the former president Mario Cera, and other managers, directors and statutory auditors of the online bank, all accused of not having carried out the necessary checks and reported the anomalies.

"Ubi Banca notes with satisfaction the fully acquittal decision, with the formula because the fact does not exist, pronounced today by the judge for preliminary investigations of Milan in abbreviated procedure against the subsidiary IW Bank - comments the Bank in a note - The sentence confirms the non-existence of the accusation hypothesis of obstacle to the exercise of the functions of the public supervisory authorities, with respect to which, on the contrary, full information transparency is ascertained, always claimed by IW Bank ".

The new management of IW Bank "closed 2018 with a net profit of 4,5 million - continues the note - and capital ratios among the best in the banking sector, with a Total Capital Ratio of 18,67% and a CET1 of 16,87 ,2019%”. For 1 "IW Bank aims to increase net inflows with the aim of reaching XNUMX billion euro". dlock
