Istat: undeclared value is 17% of GDP and amounts to 225-275 billion euros

The Italian shadow economy amounts to a figure that fluctuates between 255 and 275 billion, i.e. between 16% and 17,5% of our GDP. This is the figure that emerges from the Final Report of the Working Group on the Unobserved Economy, set up by the Ministry of Economy and led by Enrico Giovannini, president of Istat.
The report was presented today to the House Finance Committee. The analysis revealed that in data it is decreasing compared to 2000, but it has increased in absolute value. In 2000, in fact, the added value produced in the underground economy was between 217 and 228 billion euros, respectively 18,2 and 19,1% of GDP.
