In September, Italian industrial production grew by 0,2% compared to August. This was revealed by Istat, specifying that on average for the July-September quarter, production grew by 0,4% compared to the second quarter.
Adjusted for calendar effects, in September the index increased on an annual basis by 1,7%, while on average for the first nine months of the year, production increased by 0,9% compared to the same period of 2014.
Monthly growth is concentrated in the intermediate goods sector, the only one of the main industrial groupings to record a positive cyclical variation (+0,7%). Negative variations are instead noted for energy (-1,5%) and for consumer goods (-1,0%), while instrumental goods show no variation.
In trend terms, the indices corrected for calendar effects recorded, in September 2015, increases in the sectors of capital goods (+5,3%), energy (+2,3%) and consumer goods (+0,1 ,0,1%); intermediate goods, on the other hand, decreased (-XNUMX%).
As regards the sectors of economic activity, in September 2015, the sectors that recorded the greatest tendential growth are those of the manufacture of means of transport (+23,2%), of the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (+12,3 %) and the manufacture of electrical appliances and non-electrical household appliances (+4,8%).
The greatest decreases are found in the sectors of mining (-4,5%), textile, clothing, leather and accessories (-4,0%) and other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (- 2,5%).
