Irisbus, Sacconi: Government commitments for production continuity and employment

According to the minister, "continuity of production will have to be guaranteed beyond the ownership structure" - The Executive guarantees that the responsibility assumed "from the beginning is not only the protection of workers' income, which we reiterate, but also the continuity of production" – The problem is that the Campania plant is feeling the effects of the "crisis of the whole system".

Irisbus, Sacconi: Government commitments for production continuity and employment

Iris bus the Government is committed to guaranteeing “continuity of production and employment”. Word of the Minister of Labour, Maurizio Sacconi, who thus intervenes in the Chamber, answering the question time on the future of the Avellino plant. A "hot" day for Irisbus, punctuated by demonstrations by workers under the ministry and in front of Montecitorio and by the meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development set up precisely to assess the situation of the Flumeri (Avellino) plant closed by Fiat.

Demonstrations that also experienced moments of tension, when scuffles broke out under the ministry, with the police intervening and with a toll of a couple injured. And in this tense climate, Sacconi in the Chamber says that "production continuity will have to be guaranteed beyond the ownership structure", because this is "an objective asset with consequent employment profiles". Sacconi mentions the hypothesis of the sale of Dr Motor to another entrepreneur and assures that the commitment of the executive "made from the beginning is not only the protection of workers' income, a guarantee that we reiterate, but also the continuity of production".

However, the problem is overall: the Campania plant is feeling the effects of the "crisis of local public transport which in Italy is too fragmented", characterized by "inefficient management which the government intends to tackle not only in terms of resources but with agreements with the Regions" to give a "rationalization of the sector". The renewal of the means must take place, Sacconi finally observes, with forms of "concentrations" in purchases.
