Intesa Sanpaolo adheres to the new Sace guarantee: immediate loans for businesses and citizens

Intesa Sanpaolo it is the first Italian bank to adhere to the guarantee Sace's SupportItalia, the new extraordinary measure envisaged by the Aid Decree and made available by Sace until the end of 2022. The aim is to support businesses in difficulty due to the impacts generated by the conflict in Ukraine and by the increase in energy prices.

Through the new Temporary Crisis Framework launched by the European Commission, Sace will issue guarantees on loans until 31 December, within the limits of the ceiling of 200 billion euro of State guarantees already allocated by the "Liquidita" Decree and to date mobilized for 42 billion in loans guaranteed through the Garante Italia instrument.

Intesa Sanpaolo "intends to take advantage of this new opportunity to support the Italian productive fabric which, already tested by the pandemic crisis, has shown that it can adapt to the evolution of the context, showing comforting signs of recovery in 2021 with positive effects on the country's economy". the bank led by Carlo Messina announced in a note, in which he also underlined that the further complexity generated during this year by the conflict and the consequent effect on the cost of energy, in particular, has placed the volumes of the turnover of our economic and productive system.

Thanks to the new tool and the collaboration with Sace, Intesa Sanpaolo will make

available immediately at businesses that have been directly impacted, new loans intended to cover personnel costs, investments, leasing or business unit rental fees and working capital.

In particular, the loans to companies with a turnover in Italy of less than 1,5 billion or with fewer than 5 employees or, in any case, loans with a maximum guaranteed amount of up to 375 million euros can be disbursed immediately thanks to Sace's "simplified procedure", which provides for the release of the guarantee within 48/72 hours.

However, the release of the guarantee is subject to the decision taken by decree of the Minister of Economy and Finance, ie through the "ordinary procedure", relating to the request for higher amounts and for companies with employees or turnover exceeding these thresholds.

Stephen Barrese, head of the Intesa Sanpaolo Banca dei Territori Division, commented: “We appreciate this important new support tool for our businesses and we take immediate action to continue the work, joint between the public sector and private operators, which we have already effectively implemented over the years of serious complexity. From today we will therefore be able to add a further possibility to the measures undertaken by Intesa Sanpaolo, also with SACE, to support companies. It is our intention to remain the most reliable interlocutor for the economic system, guaranteeing our support with every available tool”.
