Intesa-Cnr: agreement to encourage business innovation

The National Research Council (Cnr) and Intesa Sanpaolo have signed an agreement aimed at supporting companies in their innovation projects. The agreement, signed by the president of the Cnr, Massimo Inguscio, and by the head of the Banca dei Territori of Intesa Sanpaolo, Stefano Barrese, will be operational immediately.

In detail, the agreement aims to favor and stimulate cooperation between the centers of excellence of the Cnr and businesses, allowing the latter to access the services offered by the Cnr, also through the offer by Intesa Sanpaolo of funding and services that can help multiply the opportunities for technology and knowledge transfer from the world of research to the market. It is also envisaged to encourage the participation of businesses in European Union initiatives and to undertake joint research, advanced training and innovation activities.

In particular, the agreement focuses on the issue of European funding, which will make around 100 billion euros available to European companies under the new Horizon Europe research and development support programme. "The Intesa Sanpaolo Group - reads a note - has internal structures capable of supporting industrial R&I initiatives and thanks to the agreement with the Cnr will be able to provide companies with a series of services both of a financial and non-financial, so that above all Italian SMEs and start-ups can participate in European tenders".

“This initiative allows us to make a further growth tool available to SMEs and start-ups on the innovation front,” says Stefano Barrese, head of the Banca dei Territori Division of Intesa Sanpaolo. "The agreement with the CNR - continues the manager - allows us to draw on an even wider pool of knowledge and expertise to support companies in technology transfer projects and to improve the ability of our companies to participate with growing success in tenders on European funding in the field of Research and Innovation".
