Intesa San Paolo does not present any capitalization problems. This is what Andrea Beltratti, president of the institute's management board, claims, speaking on the sidelines of the sixteenth report on the Italian financial system of the Rosselli Foundation. “We have made a capital increase, our core tire 1 is over 10% and we have no capitalization problems at the moment”, explained Beltratti.
The bank, explained the chairman of the management board, "has a liquidity position and a level of funding that allows us to overcome this difficult moment and to look to the future with serenity". According to the manager, this optimism is due to the enhancement of "a business model based on deposits and bonds that protects us from sudden changes". In relation to the European banking system, Beltratti highlighted that "the alarms about liquidity have never ceased, they have been talking about it for years, the novelty is that now even the banks of strong countries are under pressure". Overall, however, “Italian institutes have points of advantage. Ours is in fact – he concluded – it is a business model that puts us in a more sheltered situation than others ”.
