INTERVIEW WITH SENATOR GAMBARO (exM5S): "I don't understand Grillo anymore"

ADELE GAMBARO SPEAKS, formerly M5S – “I don't understand Grillo's move to negotiate in extremis on reforms with Renzi: the Democratellum seems to me to be the umpteenth attempt to buy time hoping to mess things up but I'm afraid it's just a soap bubble. The European alliance with the xenophobic Nigel Farage is incomprehensible. In the mixed group in the Senate there are 14 ex M5S”

INTERVIEW WITH SENATOR GAMBARO (exM5S): "I don't understand Grillo anymore"

“I am baffled. If these statements and these behaviors are dictated by a strategy, it is a strategy that I cannot understand, a strategy that leads nowhere and that blatantly contradicts everything that Beppe Grillo has always maintained". Adele Gambaro, European planning business consultant, is a polite Genoese lady transplanted to Bologna, who after four years of political apprenticeship at the local level landed in the Senate on the long wave of Grillo's electoral success in last year's policies. And that three months after entering Palazzo Madama she was expelled from the Movimento 5 Stelle group with the accusation of having made "harmful statements" on TV against the ex-comedian himself and the M5S (interviewed by Sky TG24, had attributed the electoral flop in the regional elections in Sicily to Grillo's tones and communication).

On the eve of the meeting between Renzi (or Boschi?) and Grillo, solicited by the latter to verify the possibility of a discussion on the reforms, FIRSTonline asked Adele Gambaro, who participated in the first phase of the political itinerary of the M5S , to answer a few questions to decrypt Grillo's latest “twist”.

Senator, one can imagine that you know Grillo well. How do you interpret your "conversion" to proportional?

“I start by saying that my knowledge of Grillo is limited to sharing the same stage in three or four Emilian squares during last year's electoral campaign. For the rest, I have never spoken to him either in person or on the phone. I read what he wrote in his blog about him. Stop".

All right. But an evaluation of the proposal to Renzi of a discussion on the reforms will be done...

"I'm trying. But I don't understand, I'm confused. Last year you had faced the campaign waving the flag of "Everyone at home!". She refused to deal with anyone. She was against everything and everyone. And now, with games practically over after Berlusconi's latest declarations of availability, you come up with the Democratellum, the exact opposite of the proposals on which the consensus of Forza Italia as well as that of the majority parties is coagulating. But what's the point?"

Senator, do you really not give an answer?

"The only hypothesis I feel like risking is that it is yet another confused attempt by Grillo to buy time in the hope that he will have the opportunity to shuffle the cards".

In your opinion, in short, is the Democratellum a soap bubble?

“I'm afraid so. Of course, anything and the opposite of everything can happen in politics. But you always have to take reality into account. And the reality that Minister Maria Elena Boschi continues to repeat is that some changes can be made to the agreements already reached but it will not be possible to start all over again ".

So why, in your opinion, does Grillo embark on businesses that seem destined to fail? As this is not the only…

"I repeat: I don't know."

But, in these battles against the windmills, do the MPs of the 5 Star Movement support their leader?

“First of all, it should be borne in mind that, in addition to me, 13 other five-star senators arrived in the mixed group of Palazzo Madama; which is not a fact to be underestimated. And furthermore, as far as I have been able to find out, albeit indirectly, there are bad moods and stomach aches in the M5S group. And not only for Grillo's position on the reforms”.

In relation to what? To the European alliances?

"Well ... yes. In agreement with the British MEPs of the xenophobic Nigel Farage, all together in the same parliamentary group. And to the fact that this alliance was closed before verifying the possibility of an agreement with the environmentalists of some European countries, politically closer to our political sensitivities. I still don't understand, and I wonder how many will follow Grillo in these adventures".
