Inflation at 2,7% in June, the record since November 2008

The annual inflation rate rose to 2,7% in June from 2,6% in May. This was noted by Istat in the provisional estimates which indicate a 0,1% increase in consumer prices on a monthly basis. The trend rate is the highest since November 2008 (when inflation stood at 2,7%). Above all, the increase in prices for transport-related services weighed on the acceleration. Core inflation, calculated net of energy goods and fresh foodstuffs, rose to 2,1% in June, with an acceleration of three tenths of a percentage point compared to May 2011 (when it was +1,8% ). Istat made it known in the provisional estimates, adding that net of energy goods alone, the trend growth rate of the consumer price index rises to 2,2% from 2,1% in May.
