According to a research conducted by Randstad India, a local branch of the Dutch multinational that operates in the field of research, selection and training of human resources, working for Microsoft is the dream of most Indian job seekers.

It is the fourth year in a row that the Microsoft takes first place, immediately ahead of Sony, in the ranking of the most coveted employers. In the banking sector, the most attractive job is the one at the State Bank of India, while in the field of tourist accommodation people prefer to work for the Taj Group and in the energy sector for Tata Power. The survey, which was conducted on more than 8000 people, both already employed and looking for their first job, revealed that the three most important criteria for choosing a job are, in order: competitive salaries, benefits employment-related and long-term contracts.

Other factors taken into consideration are the financial health of the company, career opportunities, the pleasantness of the working environment and the possibility of satisfactorily balancing the time dedicated to work and that devoted to one's affections and interests. Men - says Randstand - are more attracted by the size of the salary and the stability of the job, while women look more at the working environment, the flexibility of hours, and the distance from the workplace to the home . The most coveted sector in which to work, for both men and women, is that of information and communication technologies, followed by the production and retail sale of non-durable consumer goods such as food, house cleaning, personal hygiene) and from the automotive sector.

“The Indian economy is showing a positive trend” comments Moorthy K Uppaluri, managing director of Randstad India, “using automotive jargon, it can be said that it is gearing up. In this context, it becomes of crucial importance for any company to market to those looking for a job, in order to try to identify, attract and keep the best talent".
