News about incentives for SMEs. From 18 May, small and medium-sized Italian enterprises (but also micro enterprises) will be able to apply for the subsidies on "innovative investments linked to 4.0 technologies, circular economy and energy saving”. He expects it a decree of the Ministry of Economic Development, whose goal is to "foster the digital and sustainable transformation of manufacturing activities", reads in a note.

Requirements and how to apply

The companies that will apply for the facilitation "they must not have performed, in the two years preceding the submission of the application, a relocation towards the production unit object of the investment - explains the Mise - and they will have to pledge not to even up to two years after the completion of the investment itself”.

The procedure also provides for SMEs "a first phase dedicated to compiling the documentation necessary for the purposes of applying for the incentive which will start on 4 May", continues the note.

Applications will be submitted through online counters which will be managed by Invitalia on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Development.

SME incentives: how much money there is and how it is distributed

In all, the State provides 678 million euros of funding guaranteed by the European investment program React-EU and by the cohesion funds.

The sum is broken down as follows:

  • 250 million the investments to be made in the regions of Center-North (Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Tuscany, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto, Umbria and the Autonomous Provinces of Bolzano and Trento);
  • 428 millionInstead, they will be targeted at Southern regions (Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia).

Of these resources, a share of 25% is destined for projects proposed by micro and small enterprises.

"We support the technological modernization of Italian companies through investments in innovative projects aimed at improving the energy sustainability of production processes - underlines Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economic Development - Faced with the issue of raw material procurement, a consequence of the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, it has become a priority to accelerate the use of new technological capabilities capable of increasing the level of efficiency and energy savings to reduce the cost of the bills, thus continuing to guarantee the country's competitiveness and economic growth".
