The Minister of Economic Development, Carlo Calenda, will shortly convene the table on Ilva in light of the willingness of the buyer AMInvestco, the consortium between ArcelorMittal and the Marcegaglia group that won the auction, to discuss employment issues.
This was announced in a statement by the Mise.
Calenda, explains the note, "was informed by the Extraordinary Commissioners of Ilva... of AMInvestCo's willingness to address, in accordance with the commitments made, the essential issues of the negotiation with the trade union representatives, such as employment levels, regulatory guarantees and wages".
"In the light of these circumstances, the minister will reconvene the table in the short term".
On 9 October, Calenda interrupted the table on the future of the new Ilva a few minutes after the official launch, rejecting the wage and contractual conditions that the consortium led by the global steel giant ArcelorMittal would like to impose on workers.
