The freezing of the IMU postpones the 730: deadline extended from 31 May to 10 June

Italian taxpayers will have more time to present the 730: the deadline slips from the 31 May to the 10 June. This was established by the Government, accepting the request that arrived last Saturday from the tax assistance centres. The extension was determined by the freezing of the Imu on first homes, which according to the Caf requires the rewriting of about 100 models already presented.

The problem is with tax returns employees and pensioners that they had chosen to use the Irpef credit to lighten the advance on the single municipal tax. A compensation that is now impracticable, given that the Executive has postponed the payment of the first Imu installment to September, reserving the right, however, to modify the entire property tax system during the summer months.

The ten extra days granted by the Executive will allow Cafs and authorized professionals to correct the 730 delivered before the decree on the IMU. In this way, taxpayers will not have to present the supplementary declaration (expiring on 25 October), nor request a refund of the credit.

A process that taxpayers who have already presented the 730 model will have to endure through the withholding agent or social security institution, given that for them the delivery deadline has now expired since May 16th. If they have chosen to offset the personal income tax credit with the Imu, in July they will have a lighter refund in their paychecks.

But even in this case it will be better to wait until after the summer before presenting the supplementary model, since the Government may not find an agreement on the revision of the levy. In the event of bankruptcy by the Executive, the first IMU installment would have to be paid by 16 September. And at that point the compensation with the Irpef credit would be possible again.
