The tops and the flops of the week on the Stock Exchange: Milano Assicurazioni triumphs, the food sector plummets

After a very difficult start, Piazza Affari recovered and achieved excellent performances. Screen Service, Salvatore Ferragamo and the Lingotto also did well, placing twice in the top ten. Arena and Parmalat are in crisis, so are the companies operating in the household products sector.

The week had started in the worst way, with Piazza Affari closing with a huge drop: -3%. The hardest hit was the banking sector: Intesa scored -6,51%, Unicredit -6,36%, Banco Popolare - 6,97% and Montepaschi -7,22%. After Black Monday, however, comes a day of recovery. Piazza Affari obtains the best return among the European stock exchanges, totaling an increase of 1,92%. This time bank stocks rise to the fray and lead the fight back: Unicredit gains 4,68%, Intesa 4,32% and Monte dei Paschi 3,22%. Wednesday even turns into a triumphant day, with Milan closing with a substantial rise (+3,04%) again thanks to the outstanding performance of the credit institutions. The following day gave Piazza Affari even greater satisfaction, with a closing at +3,76% due to the European agreement on the bailout plan for Greece. Italian banks take off and Unicredit, Intesa and Ubi are close to increases of 10%. After four heart-pounding days, it's time for an extremely flat Friday: Piazza Affari closes with a calm -0,15%. The balance for the week highlights the affirmation of Milano Assicurazioni (+16,86%) which surpasses by a whisker Screen Service (16,70%), a company operating in the telecommunications sector. On the last step of the podium fashion, with Salvatore Ferragamo (+15,60%). In fourth place is the web company Dada (+14,04%), while fifth place hosts Maire Tecnimont (+14,04%), active in the energy sector. Followed by the iron and steel giant Danieli & C (+12,79%), Fiat Industrial Prv (+12,37%), Seat Pagine Gialle (+12,35%) and the credit institution Credem (+12,01 %). The top ten is closed with another presence from Lingotto: Fiat Ind Rsp (+11,76%). Instead, it was a nightmare week for companies operating in the food and household products sectors. The black jersey of the week at the Arena (-11,54%), closely followed by Parmalat (-10,08%): for food, five days to quickly forget. The podium of flops is completed by the financial Investimenti E Sviluppo (-7,43%). In fourth and sixth place are two protagonists of the household goods sector: Zucchi Spa (-7,43%) and Le Buone Società (-6,47%). Of the two, in fifth place is Dmail (-6,65%). After Richard Ginori (-6,40%), another company that deals with the domestic environment: Indesit is in eighth place (-5,96%). The top flop ends with the real estate Aedes (-5,85%) and Meridiana (-5,63%).
