Galbusera and Sammontana have announced the definition of an agreement which provides for the total transfer of Tre Marie Ricorrenze srl to Galbusera. Tre Marie has a factory in Milan with 120 employees. The operation which will take effect from 1 January 2014 required a long and in-depth definition of the agreements. The acquisition of the company includes all the special occasion products currently included in the Tre Marie recurrence range (panettoni, pandoro, colombe) and the brand for all the other categories in which Galbusera operates in Italy and on foreign markets.

Sammontana, on the other hand, retains ownership of the Tre Marie brand for all other product categories: the Empoli-based company has decided to focus on the main categories, ice cream and croissants. However, the losses of the last two years weigh on the company: a total of 13 million, due to heavy depreciation (50 million in two years). In 2012 Sammontana spa achieved revenues of 358 million (365 the year before) and a EBITDA of 39 million.

For Alessandro Pittaluga, CEO of Galbusera, «the acquisition of the prestigious Tre Marie brand corresponds to a precise strategy that aims at diversified and articulated growth, in terms of products and markets. The Tre Marie range will be enriched with new products thanks to our technology and expertise in bakery products».

Galbusera, a historic Italian biscuit company, was founded in 1938 in Morbegno in Valtellina and transformed into an industry in the 60s with the Cosio plant. Today Galbusera has 600 employees, 9 production lines and headquarters in Agrate Brianza. In 2012 it achieved revenues of 155 million, a EBITDA of 12,8 million and a net profit of 4,2 million.
