"We believe it is essential to promote multimodality of transport, above all by developing cooperation between trains and planes and promoting new policies that leverage the greater sustainability of rail transport", said the managing director of the FS Luigi Ferraris group to the European Parliament presenting the sixth study "Cer Essays”, promoted by Cer, the European Community that brings together railway companies and managers. The CEO of Ferrovie dello Stato was also received by the European Commissioner for Transport Adina Vãlean and by the Secretary General of the European Parliament Alessandro Chiocchetti.

The essay was written by the CEO of FS with the Professor Oliviero Baccelli of the Bocconi University of Milan. The study highlights the Italian experience in the field ofHigh Speed ​​Railway in promoting multimodality with other transport solutions and also "underlining the great potential of High Speed ​​to connect Capitals and many cities in Europe", as stated by Luigi Ferraris during the presentation.

The paper, a note explains, underlines how high-speed rail is promoting a new way of living, working and moving around Europe, improving the accessibility of the main cities. Services that are proving to be essential in solving some of the mobility challenges pressing issues in Europe and to meet key climate goals, including those set out in the European Green Deal.
